Spiraling Schemes and Chromatics Book (pdf download)

In junior high school home economics class, we would take 1/4 yd of a fabric and twist, sew it to form a bias scarf as in the Bishop Method. It is the technique which was the inspiration for Spiraling.

While playing with strips of fabric to create new designs in strip piecing, I discovered that there are so many ways to treat this technique. Different texture, colors, and combinations change the final appearance.

Establish a new approach to this old technique. Slice and dice the fabric; sew or serge it back together; then twist and sew again. This is an easy concept to create what looks like an involved procedure. Spiraling Schemes and Chromatics is designed as a guide for quick piecing and for using color to create wonderful wearables, quilts, wall hangings, table runners, bags and more with an artistic approach.

As always, there are leftovers for other creations. Make a pillow. Add a matching handbag and belt to complete an ensemble. Treat leftovers in the sewing room life leftovers in the kitchen. Add a little something to create something new.
